Trade Marketing Manager (m/w/d) - Germany
Lead the Trade and Partnership Marketing team in Germany to deliver sustainable holidaymaker growth by developing and implementing an innovative marketing programme across all trade categories working with tour operators, travel agents, wholesalers, island of Ireland industry and air and sea carriers. Effectively manage Tourism Ireland's staff, budget resources and market operations across the Trade Marketing sector in Germany ensuring maximum return on investment. The Duties - Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Contribute to the overall strategic direction in Germany and Central Europe and ensure the successful development and implementation of strategic industry and trade marketing plans for Germany to raise the profile and awareness of the island of Ireland as a holiday destination, in line with corporate objectives, targets and strategic priorities as well as the development of specific segments, e.g., luxury and golf. Work in close co-operation with the Manager-Germany, Consumer and Publicity Manager and Manager Austria/Switzerland. Lead and motivate the Trade and Partnership Marketing Department in Germany to nurture a positive team spirit, innovation and ensure the successful delivery of plans and objectives leading by example through the demonstration of Tourism Ireland's values. Manage the associated market budget, in line with company policy and procedures, by projecting costs, determining necessary adjustments, reviewing expenditure, and preparing written commentary on the budget as required. In conjunction with colleagues in Central Europe develop and manage key client partnerships and built strong relationships with trade (tour operators, OTAs, travel agency chains and all sales/distribution channels) and carriers and airports in Germany and on the island of Ireland to ensure the further development of existing and new sustainable programmes and routes to Ireland and oversee the access strategy in line with corporate objectives. Develop, implement, and evaluate marketing, co-operative and partnership agreements and implement marketing activities to increase reach and conversion of island of Ireland interest and bookings. Identify and develop new business opportunities for the island of Ireland in Germany with the potential to deliver additional visitor numbers and revenue. Develop, implement, and evaluate plans for the development of business tourism opportunities from Germany to the island of Ireland. Develop digital communication tools and distribution tools to train trade and industry as well as for regular communication to partners. Ensure effective organisation, participation and evaluation of fairs, workshops, events, and partnership trainings. Manage and promote trade platform opportunities and offline co-operative activities with German and island of Ireland based trade partners and work effectively with Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland and all other stakeholders to achieve shared objectives. To build up a network of contacts on the island of Ireland industry to connect with market-based trade partners to assist with product placement. Act as a point of contact and advisor for island of Ireland based industry interested in the German market. Oversee the monitoring of competitive activity, as well as and market and media trends in Germany and react to same. Ensure a high level of customer service is delivered by the Trade and Partnership team, when serving island of Ireland industry as well as trade and customer enquiries. In conjunction with Trade and Partnership team members develop and maintain close relationships with key contracted suppliers and ensure effective key account management of same. Represent Tourism Ireland at various industry and corporate functions, workshops or events and communicate the company's objectives and strategy as required. Undertake Central European projects as requested by Manager-Germany and such other duties as the company may from time to time reasonably require.
The successful candidate will posses the following skills, experience and competencies Essential Relevant sales and marketing experience including experience in developing tourism business and implementing strategy and marketing plans. Experience in managing third party agencies. Management experience, including experience in managing budgets and people. Strong communication, influencing and negotiating skills. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to manage effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. A strong team player who is highly motivated and has the ability to set goals and targets for the team. Proven project and key account management skills. High level of flexibility. High level of fluency in both written and spoken English and German. A thorough knowledge of the German tourism trade, product management for tour operators and of the sales / distribution channels. A commitment to Tourism Ireland's values and evidence of demonstrating these values in practice. Respect Collaboration Ownership Creativity Desirable Educated to degree level with a qualification in business, marketing, or other relevant discipline. Knowledge and experience of key account management would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of the German, Austrian and Swiss consumer markets. Knowledge of the island of Ireland and its tourism product.
